Has anyone tried the Valdivieso Caballo Loco No. 6 ? I read that it's a trophy winner with the IWC and hope it's as good as other Chilean blends (Escudo Rojo, Primus and Argentinian Privada). Also, I managed to buy a couple of Santa Rita Casa Real 1994's (Cab Sauv)which I believe had been cellared well. Whilst the wine had retained a lot of the varital's character, I had suspicions that the vintage was at it's limits of endurance. i.e. the fruit intensity had diminished. Does anyone know of the Real's pedigree of a wine that is only 9 years old and whether that was to be expected of it's vintage.
Whilst I am a great fan of Chilean wine, I would hate to think that one of the 'flagship'wines only had a cellar life of some 10 years. Previously, the oldest Chilean wine I had was a 5 year old wine.
